Just 10 years ago, finding brand new construction in the Westchester area was rare. And the community of Playa Vista wasn’t even a reality yet. Now, driving through these neighborhoods it’d be rare not to see a bulldozer or a construction crew furiously putting up homes from the ground up. For those of you house shopping this weekend, here’s a list of new homes in the neighborhood. (I heard from a friend who heard from a friend that one model turned talk show host has been seen checking out the One Westbluff luxury homes (Ariel/Morea) in Westchester, so you could be rubbing elbows with the stars in that neighborhood.)

For the second straight year, Beverly Hills finished first among U.S. cities in Coldwell Banker’s 2007 Home Price Comparison Index (HPCI). The study found that a typical four-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 2,200-square-foot home would cost $2.2 million in BevHills.
At the opposite end is Killeen, Texas, where the same home would fetch around $136,000. As we noted in a previous post, Texas is one state where houses are actually appreciating.
If you’re ready to ditch this crazy U.S. real-estate roller coaster, the most affordable international market was Bogata, Colombia, where the typical home would run you around $140,000. But your money wouldn’t go far in Dublin, Ireland, where the subject home would fetch more than $2 million.
